Big Island – Day 8 of a 8-Day Trip in Hawaii

Last day in Hawaii! Day 8 is really only a half day of activities as the other half involved travelling back to Oahu and then back home to Canada. I was sad to go as the trip had been a lot of fun.

Big Island

For our final day, we headed to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. The garden is 17 acres in size and the plants are well taken care of and very diverse. The garden is absolutely beautiful and so luscious!

After the garden, we headed back to Hilo’s Farmers Market to go to the Food Kitchen. I ordered a poke bowl, which consisted of tuna poke, macaroni salad, and kimchi cucumbers on rice. For dessert, I ordered the local (soursop and liliko’i/passionfruit topped with haupia/coconut cream) from Kula Shave Ice.

Then it was time to say goodbye to Hilo and the Big Island and head to the airport to return home.

9:00am: Breakfast.

10:00am: Visit the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden (15 minute drive from Hilo City Centre).

12:00pm: Lunch at the Hilo Farmer’s Market Food Kitchen (15 minute drive from Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden).
