Canada – Ontario Day 5

Toronto – Day 5 of a 5-Day Trip in Ontario

Day 5 was my last day in Ontario for this trip! It felt like a shorter day as I was flying back to Vancouver in the evening. I stayed with a friend the night before and spent Day 5 with them as well.

Day 5

Toronto

I had pancakes for breakfast, which my friend graciously made for me. After breakfast, we headed to Kensington Market. Kensington Market is a vibrant area close to Chinatown and is popular for its art spaces and boutique shops. There was a small outdoor market hidden away in one of the alleys during my visit. Another interesting attraction is the Garden Car, which is exactly as it sounds – a garden in a car.

After wandering around Kensington Market, it began to rain. I was surprised to see everyone disappear off the streets due to the rain. Vancouverites would open an umbrella and carry on with their day, but Toronto does not react the same to rain. As a last stop in Kensington Market, we visited Little Pebbles Café for dessert. We shared the strawberry croissant, raspberry matcha croissant, and black sesame croissant.

Next stop, the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal to take the ferry to Toronto Island Park! Note: We actually went to Pai for an early dinner next, then Toronto Island Park for the sunset. There are 3 different ferries each heading to a different island – Ward’s Island, Centre Island, and Hanlan’s Point. We took the ferry to Centre Island. The ferry ride is refreshing and offers great views of the Toronto skyline. We only went for the views, but there are tons of trails to explore on Toronto Island Park. It is well worth at least a half day trip.

Afterwards, head to dinner at Pai. Pai is a popular restaurant specializing in Northern Thai food. The food is delicious, but the presentation is really next level detail. We ordered an array of dishes – kung tawt garlic shrimp, springs rolls, tom yum soup, khao soi, pad thai, and green curry.

After dinner, it was time to say my farewells to Toronto and head to the airport. If you do not need to head to the airport, continue exploring Toronto!
