Day 4 of a 4-Day Trip in Edmonton
Day 4 felt like a relatively short day as we were flying back to Vancouver in the afternoon. That said, I feel like we got a lot done despite this. It actually felt a lot cooler today, still lots of sun, but much windier.
Day 4
Edmonton
To start our day, we picked up pastries from Hong Kong Bakery in Chinatown. The pastries were very cheap – about $12 for everything in the image. We ordered two curry breads, a coconut bun, a pineapple bun, and two bbq pork buns.

We munched on our pastries on the drive to the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market. The Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market is open on Saturday and Sundays year round. Parking is free on the Farmers Market days. We visited on a Saturday. Some of the market is outdoors and some is indoors. There are a lot of vendors to visit and much to explore. We picked up a Snozzberry kombucha from Boocha, a local Edmonton company. We both got a hot dog from a food cart called Fat Franks (despite the fact that we were headed to lunch next).

For lunch, we picked Splash Poke. Splash Poke is a franchise and has multiple locations around Edmonton. We shared a poke bowl (with tuna and spicy salmon). I found the poke to be expensive for the size, however that is understandable as Edmonton is not as close to fresh seafood as Vancouver is.
After lunch, we headed to Keillor Point Lookout for a view of the North Saskatchewan River. The viewpoint does not require much effort to get to (approximately a 5 minute walk from the street parking). The area is located near the University of Alberta campus and reminds me of Marine Drive near the University of British Columbia. The homes in this area are gorgeous and huge.

Next, we headed to William Hawrelak Park. The park is dedicated to William Hawrelak, Edmonton’s longest serving mayor to date. The park is immense with a total of 68 hectares. It has an open meadow, trails, rivers and lakes. The pavilion at the centre of the lake had interesting historical facts about Edmonton.

After the park, we headed to the airport for our trip back to Vancouver!
